 Are these elegant winter visitors in decline?
One of Britain’s most exotic visitors are soon to fly off on their long journey to the Russian Arctic. The Bewick's Swans arrive in mid October and will start to leave from mid February. They’re famous for their distinctive call. Eileen Rees is Head of Waterbird Conservation for the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. She's written a book devoted entirely to this most elegant winter visitor, whose numbers are sadly in decline. She’s spent the last thirty years of her life tracking their migration to our shores from Russia. Fiona Parsons travelled to Slimbridge in Gloucestershire to meet her.
