Swingers 23 Oct 08
What is its impact on a couple?

It was supposed to be the classic 70s activity but it seems to have been reinvented for our own times: swinging, the pursuit of sexual pleasure primarily in a couple, with other couples. In an age when we’re all living longer and when the use of condoms is encouraged for casual sexual encounters, it’s said that this is a harmless way of spicing up the sex life of a couple - with women very often in control. But is there a danger that women will be coerced into it? And what about its image – does it just seem irredeemably suburban and middle class? Jane talks to Mark Brendon, the author of a new book, “Swinging”, who is himself a swinger, and to psychologist Susan Quilliam.

“Swinging” by Mark Brendon is published by The Friday Project, ISBN 978-1-90-632113-0
