 What is their appeal for women?
They’re everywhere. Angelina Jolie has them, Amy Winehouse is covered in them and even Samantha Cameron has one on her ankle. But why do women get tattoos? And is this a recent craze, or have tattoos been popular with women throughout history? Jane is joined by the writer Daisy Garnett and Professor Jane Caplan who has edited 'Written on The Body: The Tattoo in European and American History'.
According to the Tattooing of Minors Act of 1969 it is an offence for a tattoo artist to tattoo anyone under the age of 18. Contrary to what was said on air, it is illegal regardless of whether the minor has parental consent. |
