Haut de la Garenne 11th September 2008
What now for the care leavers on Jersey?

The discovery of children’s bones and teeth at the Haut de la Garenne children’s home in February has traumatised the whole of Jersey, not just the abused survivors of the care system, but the wider population as well. Following the initial shock, residents on the island are now beginning to question why and how such things could have happened in their midst. So, what next for Jersey? How can it come to terms with the past and provide a positive future for the children who are still in care on the island today?

To discuss the issues, Sheila is joined by Valerie Sinason; a child psychotherapist involved with the Jersey Care Leavers Association; and Michael Pollard; Chief Executive; Health and Social Services.
