History
Henrietta Herbert 29 August 2008
Lady Henrietta Antonia Herbert, Countess of Powis by Sir Joshua Reynolds
Powis Castle celebrates the 250th anniversary of Henrietta Herbert’s birth

Henrietta Herbert (1758-1830) was a society beauty and great collector of Indian artefacts. Her marriage to Edward Clive, the eldest son of Clive of India, led to an adventurous life and a taste for the exotic. Her ancestral home, Powis Castle, is holding various events to celebrate her life, including a talk by Anne Buddle, Head of Exhibitions at the National Galleries of Scotland. Jane talks to Anne about Henrietta’s life and her remarkable collection of Indian treasures.

'The Clive of India collection and Henrietta Herbert'lecture will take place at Powis Castle, Powys on 3rd September 6.30pm – 8pm
