Sex and the modern Catholic 04 August 2008
Why do some practising Catholics choose to ignore the church’s teaching on birth control?

A recent survey of 1500 practising Catholics found that most ignore the church’s teachings on birth control. More than fifty percent of respondents had used or currently use the pill despite the Humanae Vitae published forty years ago, which bans the use of all artificial forms of contraception. So how surprising and representative are these results and how should the church respond? Jenni discusses the issues with  journalist Citra Abbott, and former editor of the Catholic Herald Cristina Odone.
