Discovery of New Breast Cancer Genes 10 July 2008
Breast cancer
The discovery of new genes which could identify the risk of  women of developing breast cancer

Recent findings by Cancer Research UK have revealed 5 new genes which contribute to the risk of developing breast cancer. Researchers believe these will be the first of a large number of genes that individually have modest effects on risk - but which, if combined, could lead to a high possibility of breast cancer.  But what will this mean for NHS breast cancer screening and just what is the psychological impact of knowing that there is a strong possibility that your genetic make-up could lead to you getting breast cancer?
