Proposed French ban on anorexia sites 14 April 2008
French use the law to fight eating disorders

France looks set to become the first country to outlaw websites that promote anorexia. Those promoting the eating disorder online could find themselves facing a jail term of up to three years and a 45,000 Euro fine. This change to the law has been proposed by French MP Valerie Boyer, who has won the backing of the government. So why is anorexia so high on the French legislative agenda and is there any thing we can learn from these proposals? Jane talks to Susan Ringwood, Chief Executive of BEAT, and to French journalist, Agnes Poirier.
