The woman who hoarded 3,500 valuable ceramic tiles
It's been described as one of the most significant collections of ceramic tiles ever. A collection of 3500, hoarded away by a woman from Birmingham over thirty years. Sheila Hughes had a passion for saving architectural heritage. Her family knew that she collected tiles, but had no idea of the scope or value of what was ferreted away in dozens of boxes throughout the house. It was only on Sheila’s death a year ago that the extent of the collection was revealed. As it comes up for auction in Stourbridge, Jenni's joined by Sheila’s daughter, Mandy and the auctioneer and ceramics expert Will Farmer. The Sheila Hughes Tile CollectionDisclaimer
