Enslaved: The New British Slavery 28 Sep 2007
Are our immigration laws making women vulnerable?

A Somali woman who is a failed asylum seeker and nearly fell into prostitution; a child brought from Sierra Leone who is used as an unpaid domestic labourer; and an Indian woman who's in an arranged marriage which became abusive. How do people come to find themselves in positions of great vulnerability in this country? A new book, “Enslaved”, tells some of their stories. Author Rahila Gupta and the Chief Executive of the Border and Immigration Agency, Lin Homer join Jane to consider whether our immigration policy might be to blame.

"Enslaved" by Rahila Gupta is published by Portobello Books Ltd, ISBN 978 1 84627 065 9
