Amy Bloom has taught at Yale University, practised psychotherapy and is a successful television producer who helped create the series Nip/Tuck, set in the Californian plastic surgery industry. She’s also a highly regarded writer whose latest novel, Away, tackles the ambitious matter of the great American novel – the immigrant’s story. The story would appear to follow a tried and tested formula, but it has attracted exceptional reviews from critics and fellow writers.
