Mom's Rising: An overnight revolution? 7th May 2007
Despite North American feminists having blazed a trail internationally women in the United States lag behind much of the rest of the developed world in childcare, healthcare, and sex discrimination. A new internet-based pressure group is leading a spirited fightback. Mom's Rising, which has signed up over 90,000 members since its launch in May 2006, aims to become "a movement millions strong" in the run-up to the 2008 elections.

While the group's targets might not sound like much - equal pay, flexible work, maternity leave - in the US, where none of these rights exist, this is a big deal. We hear from Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner, a co-founder of Mom's Rising and author of the Motherhood Manifesto, and Paisley Dodds, Bureau Chief for Associated Press here in London.
