Rosie Boycott – Life on the Farm 4th May 2007
Rosie Boycott
Rosie Boycott has been editor of the Daily Express, The Independent on Sunday and The Independent. But two years ago, her life took a new direction when she decided to devote herself to setting up and running a smallholding in Somerset. She now produces vegetables, plants, pigs and eggs on her land near Ilminster. And Rosie is not alone. She is part of a growing phenomenon of well-paid professional people who are choosing to leave city life behind and become immersed in farming. What motivates them to make such a drastic career change? What challenges do they face? How feasible is it for them to make a living out of it? Will many of them find it remains an expensive hobby? Jane discusses this with Rosie Boycott, who has just published a book about her experience, and Debbie Beaton of Farmers Weekly.

Our Farm – A Year In The Life Of A Smallholding” by Rosie Boycott is published by Bloomsbury on 9th May 2007, ISBN: 978-0-7475-8897-9.
