The Future of Ante-Natal Classes 2 Apr 2007
pregnant woman
Ante-natal classes set out what happens in labour and what options women have about how to give birth. They also offer breastfeeding advice and information on what to expect in the first few weeks as a parent. The National Childbirth Trust, which provides paid-for antenatal classes for women, has been compiling reports from its members about the dwindling local NHS provision of ante-natal classes.

Jane discusses the role of ante-natal classes, why they are being cut and the implications of these cuts on women about to give birth with Belinda Phipps, Chief Executive of the NCT and Jo Webber, Policy Director of the NHS Confederation.
