A new book called ‘Different Dads’, written by fathers, for fathers has just been published. What makes the dads in this book ‘different’ is that they are all the fathers of disabled children. Their stories highlight many concerns of men who find themselves in this position – often sidelined by medical staff, some dealing with unsupportive employers and many coping with a feeling of isolation.
Andrew Pearson is one of the fathers who contributed his story to the book and Phil Conway, who has a son with physical and mental disabilities is a trustee of the charity Contact a Family. They join Jenni to talk about their experiences of living with a child with disabilities.
'Different Dads' is published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers. ISBN: 978-1-84310-454-4Contact a Family Fathers Direct Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities Every Disabled Child MattersDisclaimer
