Annie Nightingale - the 'Queen of Breaks' 19 Mar 2007
Annie Nightingale
Known as the ‘Queen of Breaks’, Annie Nightingale is the only female DJ in the world to be awarded an MBE by the Queen. Annie’s show on Radio 1 has become one of the station’s biggest on-line successes, and she has a growing international audience. Her DJing has taken her all over the world, most perilously to Baghdad just before the first Gulf War.

Annie has been a music critic, TV presenter and documentary maker; for four years she was the sole presenter of The Old Grey Whistle Test and in 2002 the show was voted the most popular music programme in the 100 Top TV Shows of All Time. She’s now releasing a new compilation.
