The art of bitching 23 Jan 2007
Where do you draw the line?

The recent antics of a trio of young women in the Big Brother House – Jade, Jo and Danielle - have put the art of “bitching” well and truly in the spotlight. Woman’s Hour unpicks the complexities of bitching with Kate Figes, the author of The Big Fat Bitch Book , which examines why women excel at the art of bitching. She encourages us to get in touch with our “inner bitch” and argues that bitching is essential as a cathartic release when life, work and motherhood get too much. Novelist Joanna Briscoe joins in the discussion and helps establish how you distinguish between a bonding session and character assassination.

The Big Fat Bitch Book
by Kate Figes is published by Virago: ISBN 978-1-844408-295-7.
