Two years ago Barbara Clark was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer and given just a fourteen per cent chance of survival.
She campaigned for the right to be prescribed Herceptin, a drug that was not available to her on the NHS. She appeared in the national media and prepared a legal challenge to win the right for women in her position to get this treatment. All the while, she was undergoing harrowing chemotherapy and caring for a disabled foster child. So what drove her to undertake the fight?
Martha talks to Barbara Clark about why she campaigned for herceptin and to Kate Law, director of clinical trials at Cancer Research UK about what we now know about this drug.
