According to Marie Stopes International, as many as 13% of British men have had a vasectomy. One of the most effective forms of contraception, it is a routine operation that takes little more than quarter of an hour. But the editor of a leading men’s health website recently revealed that vasectomy pain is the second most frequently raised topic by his readers. There are no firm figures on men suffering chronic post-vasectomy pain, but estimates vary between 5 and 30%. So why isn’t this pain more commonly known, and what impact does it have on men and relationships?
