Gender Equality in the Civil Service 05 Jan 2007
Following a report from the Equal Opportunities Commission, Sex and Power: Who Runs Britain?, Woman’s Hour looks at gender equality in the Civil Service and asks why a workplace, that should be leading the way, is still failing to give equal pay and position to women. Less than 20% of females hold senior positions in Parliament and it’s not much better, behind the scenes, in the Civil Service.

Carolyn talks to a former leading female civil servant, Dame Sue Street, Wendy Jones, the equality officer at the FDA, the union that represents senior managers in the Civil Service and Jenny Watson, Chair of the EOC.
