Abortion: Should the legal limit be lowered? 31 Oct 2006
In 1990 the legal limit to carry-out an abortion was lowered from 28 to 24 weeks. In her Ten Minute Bill that she will today bring before the House of Commons, MP Nadine Dorries will attempt to reduce that limit further, to 21 weeks.

In the same Bill, she will request a ten-day “cooling off” period in which women who have just discovered that they are pregnant will receive mandatory counselling and “information” on foetal development and the potential support available to them were they not to abort.

Jenni Murray will be joined in the studio by MP Nadine Dorries and Anne Furedi from the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, to discuss the practicalities and implications of this Bill.
