Over three and a half million adult children bear the physical and emotional scars from growing up in an alcoholic family. Children of alcoholic parents are four times more likely to develop drug and alcohol addictions than those from non-alcoholic homes.
New research is being carried out to assess which children may be more susceptible to alcohol problems and teachers are being trained to spot the warning signs to try and prevent early addiction.
