Could the Government's policy of free nursery education for all actually reduce the nursery places available? Kent County Council has announced that the Government's strategy is "unworkable" and have suspended its implementation pending a meeting with Department of Education officials. The problem is a new funding regime which could potentially force thousands of day nurseries out of business.
