  Married to a murderer 28 Mar 2006
Justine Mirth, an unmarried mother of four from Chicago, has recently announced she is to marry Tom Nissen, one of two men convicted of raping and murdering Teena Brandon, the girl Hilary Swank played in the film, Boys Don’t Cry.

She is just one of a number of American and British women who develop friendships with ‘lifers’  or Death Row inmates through pen pal schemes, some of whom end up becoming engaged or married to these criminals.

Jenni hears from Justine, and talks to relationship psychologist, Dr Lucy Atcheson and author, Roberta Kray, about the emotional motivation for the women seeking relationships of this sort.

The Debt, Roberta Kray, published by Constable and Robinson, ISBN-13 978-1-84529-212-6
