The Renaissance Courtesan 27 Mar 2006
Jenni delves into the illicit world of the Renaissance courtesan.

Courtesans used their wit and charm as well as their beauty to find powerful and wealthy patrons. They were the companions of men as well as their lovers in a society in which respectable women were closeted away. Though they were completely dependent on their male patrons,  it was possible for  these women to amass a fortune.
