  Married to a dictator 20 Mar 2006
On Saturday, Slobodan Milosevic, one of the 20th century’s most notorious dictators was buried. His political rise, and fall some would say, had been fuelled by the aspirations and connections of his wife Mira Markovic.

But was she just one of many dictators’ wives who wielded such influence from behind?

Woman’s Hour investigates what lies behind the myths and realities of some of history’s most influential political wives. Jenni speaks to the journalist and war reporter, Janine Di Giovanni and Professor of Global Governance at LSE, Mary Kaldor.
