The Hollywood actress who has starred with Tom Cruise in Top Gun and Harrison Ford in Witness, talks about her career and her new play currently touring in the UK.
In the 1980s, Kelly McGillis was a Hollywood superstar working alongside the likes of Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise and Jodie Foster in the blockbusters Witness, Top Gun and The Accused. But by the 1990s, she had decided to step out of the international limelight and onto the stage where she has tackled some of the toughest female roles from Lavinia in Morning Becomes Electra to Regina Giddens in The Little Foxes. Uncomfortable with being in the public eye, Kelly’s life has nevertheless come under close scrutiny following her decision to talk publicly about being raped in the early 80s and her acknowledgement last year that she is gay. Kelly McGillis joins Jenni to talk about her life, her career and her new production of Frankie & Johnny in the Clair de Lune which is currently touring the UK.
‘Frankie & Johnny in the Clair de Lune’ is at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford until the 13th February and at the West Yorkshire Playhouse from the 15th – 20th February. It then tours to Llandudno, Worthing, Jersey, Ipswich, Colchester and Wolverhampton.Frankie & Johnny in the Clair de LuneDisclaimer
