Elisabeth Welch
The singer and actress remembered in a new exhibition

Elisabeth Welch was the most famous black women in England during her heyday in the 30’s and 40’s. Best known for her renditions of Love for Sale and Stormy Weather, Cole Porter wrote songs for her and she sang at Buckingham Palace garden parties. As a new exhibition of memorabilia opens, author and historian Stephen Bourne joins Jenni to talk about the extraordinary life of Elisabeth Welch.
