 Do women face a post-code lottery when it comes to the management of this potentially fatal condition?
One in eighty of those who conceive will have an ectopic pregnancy – where the egg implants outside the womb causing a serious threat to the mother’s health. The best surgical techniques can prevent future complications such as infertility - and can also speed up a woman’s recovery. Yet not all women hare offered these treatments. We ask whether women face a post-code lottery when it comes to the management of this potentially fatal condition. Maggie Blott, Consultant in Obstetrics & Maternal Medicine and vice-president of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists and Professor Bill Ledger, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Sheffield join Jenni to discuss the issues.
