New powers to enforce contact orders
One in ten separated or divorced couples end up going to court to fight over contact with children. Parents who refuse their former partner’s access to their children can be sent to prison but this very rarely happens. From next week parents who flout their contact orders could be ordered to pay compensation or sentenced to community work. Are these new measures likely to deter parents from flouting the rules? Jenni talks to Alex who went to court to gain access to his son. They are joined by Lamorna Wooderson from CAFCASS and Denise Lester, a family law solicitor at Moss Beachley Mullem & Coleman.CAFCASSDisclaimer
