The joy of singing 20 August 2008
Sing The Nation
Pitch perfect? Tone deaf? Does it really matter?

On 24 August the UK's biggest sing-along will take place at the Olympic handover ceremonies. There will be big screens broadcasting the day's events in 25 locations across the UK - from Sing Glasgow to Sing London to Sing Ulster.  The idea is to encourage people to feel that everyone can benefit from singing in a group, no matter what their ability. But why is singing said to be so good for you? And what about those who really can't hold a note in their head? Jenni is joined by the Artistic Director of ‘Sing the Nation’ Colette Hiller, and Suzi Digby, a choral director and conductor and one of the judges on the BBC’s Last Choir Standing.
