The Mexican sculptor on her latest installation

In the 1960s, the Mexican artist Helen Escobedo was commissioned to create a 17 metre high, blue and yellow sculpture called "Gateway to the Wind", to represent her home country the year they hosted the Olympics. The piece was a bold statement for a young woman in a macho and somewhat conservative country. She was one of the first of her generation to embrace the idea of creating site-specific and both permanent and ephemeral sculptures, her work has taken her around the world. Reporter Anna McNamee went to meet Helen at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park near Wakefield where her latest installation  “Summerfields” is on show.
