Painted Babies Growing Up
What is life like for former child beauty queens?

In 1995 documentary maker Jane Treays attracted attention for her film ‘Painted Babies’, following the fortunes of two five-year-old entrants in a junior beauty pageant in America’s deep south. The film shocked many for it’s depiction of ruthless parents, and the kitsch sexualisation of the children taking part. Recently Jane Treays returned to the US to see what has become of the girls as teenagers for her film 'Painted Babies Growing Up'.
