 Award winning actress Brenda Blethyn in ‘The Glass Menagerie’ by Tennessee Williams
Brenda Blethyn was born plain Brenda Bottle in Ramsgate – the youngest of nine children. She went to drama school at 27 and made her international breakthrough at 50 in Mike Leigh’s ‘Secrets and Lies’. She was named best actress at Cannes for her portrayal of a mother who is reunited with the daughter she put up for adoption. Now Brenda is taking the stage to play another mother - Amanda Wingfield, one of the great creations of American drama – the overbearing mother who takes centre stage in ‘The Glass Menagerie’ by Tennessee Williams.
