Social realist portraits and abstract seascapes on display in Edinburgh.
Best known for her paintings of street children in Glasgow slums and expressive abstract seascapes of the North East coast, Joan Eardley has become one of Scotland’s most cherished and respected artists. It's hoped that a major retrospective of her work, at the National Gallery Complex in Edinburgh, will further establish her as a major contributor to the post-war British Art Scene. Curator Fiona Pearson talks to Jane about Eardley’s life and the significance of her work.National Galleries of ScotlandDisclaimer
