On Woodstock, flower-power and performing with her son
Melanie was just twenty-two years old when she sang at Woodstock with rock icons Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Joan Baez. But where she once she sang about peace and love, now she sings about 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. She has sold more than eighty million records to date and her songs have been covered by singers as diverse as Cher, Macy Gray and Dolly Parton. Flower child turned earth mother, Melanie Safka joins Jenni to talk about her life and music.
Melanie's UK Tour is taking her to The Sage Gateshead in Gateshead on September 27th, The Cheese and Amp in Frome on September 29th and to Mr Kyps in Poole on the 1st October 2007.MelanieDisclaimer
