 Children's illustrator and author talks about her new award.
Shirley Hughes has been delighting children and adults for over 50 years with her beautiful illustrations. She has written over 50 children’s books of her own and has illustrated over 200 works including the 'My Naughty Little Sister' books by Dorothy Edwards. By 2005, Shirley had sold a staggering 11,000,000 books! Her best known stories include 'Alfie' and 'Dogger' which has just won the Greenway of Greenaways Medal for the favourite illustrated book of the last 50 years. As she celebrates her 80th birthday and the opening of an exhibition of her illustrations in London, Shirley talks to Miriam about her life in illustration and about her new projects, which include a special edition of 'Peter Pan' and another 'Alfie' story - 'Alfie and the Big Boys'.80th Birthday ExhibitionDisclaimer
