Health
Child Obesity 19 July 2007
Packed lunches
Has the government been too preachy in telling parens how to feed children?

It’s almost a year since a group of Rotherham mothers caused controversy by rebelling against the school dinner policy at their children’s school and smuggled chips to pupils through the playground railings. Latest research now tells us that the decline in school dinner take up in some places is as high as thirty per cent.

But in telling parents so often what, and what not, to allow children to eat, does the government risk alienating rather than winning parents’ cooperation by being just too preachy?  Consultant Paediatrician, Dr Penny Gibson and writer Jennie Bristow join Miriam to disucuss government policy for preventing child obesity.
