Xinran 10 July 2007
Xinran talking to women working in a Chinese street
The Chinese author on women and daughters in modern China.

Radio presenter and author, Xinran, became an icon for women in China during the 1990s when she aired women’s stories on the radio and then brought them together in a best-selling book,The Good Women of China. Now, she talks to Jenni about her new book “Miss Chopsticks” which tells the story of three sisters named Three, Five and Six, who move from rural China to the city. Xinran also talks about her work with  Mother Bridge of Love, the charity she set up to help Chinese children, adopted into western families, maintain links with the culture of their homeland.

'Miss Chopsticks' by Xinran is published by Chatto and Windus - ISBN 9780-701-18041-6

'Motherbridge of Love' will be published in September by Barefoot Books.
