Breech Babies 21 June 2007
Newborn baby
Are enough midwives trained to deliver them?

The number of breech babies being born by caesarean is on the rise – and midwives are concerned. They say caesareans are being offered as a matter of course, irrespective of whether it’s strictly necessary. As a result trainee midwives and obstetricians are not getting the chance to learn how to deliver breech babies which means less choice for mothers-to-be.  Derek Tufnell, Consultant and Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Bradford Royal Infirmary and Jane Evans, independent midwife and author of 'Breech Birth, What are my options?' join jenni to discuss the issues.
