She returns to the West End as The Drowsy Chaperone.
Elaine has been described as "The First Lady of British Musical Theatre". She made the song Memory her own when she took over the role of Grizabella in Cats from Judy Dench, who tore her achilles tendon prior to the opening night. Elaine brought the character of Eva Peron to the West End stage in “Evita” and in 1985 had a Number 1 hit with Barbara Dickson with I Know Him So Well from the musical Chess. Elaine talks to Jane about her latest musical role as The Drowsy Chaperone, and describes how it feels to return to the West End stage. The Drowsy Chaperone Elaine Paige on BBC Radio 2Disclaimer
