Rain Pryor 27 April 2007
Rain Pryor
With her self-confessed heritage as ‘half-black, half-Jewish’, growing up surrounded by the glamour of Hollywood, transvestites, drug addicts and the inhabitants of whorehouses, Rain Pryor is something of a paradox. The daughter of the late comedian Richard Pryor is a performer and author in her own right and is about to begin a UK-wide tour with her portrayal of Billie Holliday in a visceral performance of The Billie Holiday Story. Rain joins Ritula to talk about the challenges of playing Lady Day and living in the shadow of her famous father.
