 John Morgan, a consultant psychiatrist from Leeds, has described the support offered to vulnerable new mothers as "a scandal". Psychiatric factors are the leading causes of maternal death in this country. Mr Morgan is worried that psychiatric support services on maternity wards are being cut and the consequences could be deadly.
