 When Noerine Kaleeba’s husband was diagnosed with Aids in 1986, she assumed she had also contracted HIV. She decided to live as if she had a limited time to influence the way people with HIV were treated in her home country of Uganda. Out of that determination came the largest Aids charity in Africa – TASO, and her own meteoric rise to the top of Actionaid International.
