Five of her novels have been adapted for television and she’s won literary awards in Britain and America for her work. Now she’s won what she describes as a very special award – her novel Chickenfeed, specially written for those who find reading a challenge, has been voted the ‘best book’ by its readers. She tells Jenni why she got involved in the project and how difficult it is to write books with short sentences and words of no more than three syllables.
