Rewarded for her work among the women lepers of India. Leah Pattison has spent the last eleven years working with women in India who’ve contracted leprosy. Unlike men with the disease, they’re often thrown out onto the streets by their families or even killed. Initially Leah went to India for six months to teach. Instead of coming home she stayed on, and with a colleague set up the first charity specifically aimed at helping women. She even contracted the disease herself. Now her work is being honoured with a Beacon prize – the Nobel of the charity world. She’ll be talking to Jenni Murray about her amazing story. The Beacon Fellowship Leah Pattison StartDisclaimer
