Social
Police Widows 20 July 2006
PC Ian Broadhurst was shot dead on Boxing Day 2003 - killed in the line of duty. His wife Eilisa receives a pension, but only as long as she doesn't remarry. Though she says she can't imagine forming a relationship with anyone else, she says it's wrong that widows and widowers are being penalised in this way. Changes in police pensions mean that new recruits and their families are protected, but that doesn't apply to many serving officers or to those who have already been killed.
