International
Shirin Ebadi 05 June 2006
In 2003, Shirin Edabi became the first Muslim woman and first Iranian to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Shirin, who is a leading human rights activist and lawyer, has recently published a memoir. Speaking through an interpreter, she talks to Jenni about why she feels compelled to defend the rights of women and children; how she reacted when the religious authorities declared women unfit to serve as judges and why, despite death threats, she is convinced she must remain in Iran.

'From Prison to Peace Prize: One Woman's Struggle at the Crossroads of History' by Shirin Ebadi with Azadeh Moaveni is published by Ebury Publishing: ISBN: 1846040124
