Jane Corbin on her journey through Iraq 18 Mar 2006
Award-winning journalist Jane Corbin has recently returned from Basra where she was filming a BBC Panorama special.

She travelled throughout the region with British troops – and was the only journalist with members of the British battle group shortly before the bombing in the southern city of Amara where two British soldiers were killed.

This week John Reid announced a 10% reduction in British troops by May. So with continued violence in the region, how ready is Iraq for the withdrawal of coalition forces?

Panorama's report on the situation in southern Iraq, three years since the fall of Saddam Hussein, will be broadcast on Sunday 19 March 2006 at 22:15GMT on BBC One.
