Changes in US attitude towards abortion 08 Mar 2006
An article in the Washington Post this week proclaims that "for the first time in 14 years, legal abortion in the United States is in serious jeopardy."

The state of South Dakota has passed a law which bans all abortions unless the life of the mother is at risk, and supporters of the law hope that it could force a review of abortion law Nationwide.

So what is changing in American attitudes towards abortion? Why now? And are similar shifts in attitude detectable on this side of the Atlantic?

Woman's Hour is joined by Professor Jay Kleinburg, Director of the Centre for American Transatlantic and Caribbean History at Brunel Business School and by Dr Ellie Lee, Lecturer in Social Policy at the University of Kent.
